Black Milk

With a career spanning more than twenty years, Black Milk has built up an impressive body of work as a rapper and producer. After earning his first production credits as a teenager in 2002 with Detroit’s Slum Village, he worked closely with the group and co-produced a large part of their next three albums.

With ten solo albums, four beat tapes, a live instrumental album and countless collaborative albums to his name, Black Milk has proven himself to be one of hip-hop’s most prolific artists. With every step, he has further developed his sound, from a classic soul-based style to a layered mix of live instrumentation and chopped-up productions, blending funk, soul, jazz, psych rock, gospel, electronic music and hip-hop.

His ninth solo album, ‘CEREMONIAL’, was written, produced and mixed by himself. Black raps about music as medicine, the spiritual practice of creation and the precarious position of the artist in these times. The album features a selection of talent from the US Midwest, including Saba, BJ the Chicago Kid, Brandon Myster, Ian Fink and Sasha Kashperko.
