Billy Nomates arriveerde in het voorjaar van 2020 met een opvallende debuutsingle, simpelweg getiteld 'No'. Het woord vat ook de algehele tendens van haar muziek goed samen: de felle en uitgesproken artiest uit Bristol maakt haar liedjes vanuit een drang tot verzet. Op stekelig klinkende no-wave en postpunk rebelleert ze in haar spraakzang tegen thema's als Brexit, nulurencontracten en genderongelijkheid.
Op 16 mei 2025 verschijnt Billy's derde album 'Metalhorse', haar eerste album dat met volledige band is opgenomen (met bassist Mandy Clarke van KT Tunstall en drummer Liam Chapman van Rozi Plain). Blues-, folk- en pianogedreven arrangementen duwen het strakke punkgeluid van Billy Nomates in een meer pastorale richting.
