Er bestond een tijd waarin meertalige rapper en multi-instrumentalist Daniel Anthony Ferris nog werkzaam was als Spaans docent. Toen hij echter onder artiestennaam D Smoke besloot deel te nemen aan rapcompetitie 'Rhythm + Flow', kwam dit tijdperk tot een einde: zijn sociaal bewuste bars over de straten van zijn geboortestad Inglewood behaalden hem de winst.

In het hierop volgende jaar wist D Smoke gelijk hoge ogen te gooien met debuutalbum 'Black Habits', dat twee Grammy-nominaties ontving voor beste rapalbum en beste nieuwe artiest van 2020, en features bevatte van Snoop Dogg en Jill Scott. Zijn tweede album 'War & Wonders' kwam vorig jaar uit en vindt D Smoke in zijn natuurlijke habitat: het creëren van muziek met krachtige boodschappen onder begeleiding van vlotte instrumentals. De COLORS livesessie voor zijn nieuwe single 'Glide' is hieronder te bekijken. Op 9 juli treedt D Smoke op tijdens de vierde editie van Bassline Nights in Parallel.

How to get to Parallel

Parallel is located at Buiksloterweg 5C in Amsterdam North, at the rear end of the Tolhuistuin building. To get there, catch one of the free ferries departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Upon crossing the IJ river, take an immediate left and cross the Volewijck bridge. Turn right and continue walking until you reach Overhoeksplein. Here, you will find the Galgenveld bridge to your right. Crossing it, you will find the Tolhuistuin archway and Parallel’s entrance.
