Automatic maakt postpunk met stevig synthwerk, minimalistische drumbeats en een voorliefde voor dub-reggae. Het trio uit Los Angeles laat zich inspireren door het werk van bands als Neu! en Suicide, maar vernoemde zichzelf naar een nummer van girl-rockband The Go-Go's. Twee jaar na de eerste jamsessies werd debuutalbum ‘Signal’ uitgebracht in het najaar van 2019, dat werd geproduceerd door Joo Joo Ashworth van FROTH. Binnenkort verschijnt opvolger 'Excess', waarop een nieuwe soort retrofuturistische motorik-pop wordt aangeboord.
