An theatre evening with some fresh new talent from all over Europe! Black Pearl de Almeida takes the audience on a personal journey of resilience and self-acceptance in 'FEM[IN]ME', embodied by a whole range of styles. With 'Hereditary', CREATE4 delves into the impact of fatherhood and the inherited legacy of toxic masculinity, told through hip hop dance by two young Black men navigating their differences and similarities. Camilla Siddu's 'So Close, Away' explores the power of small gestures and how relationships shift through separation, in a moving story about three childhood friends. 'Sales Mômes' by Karim Khouader is a high-energy choreographic show, where seven hip-hop dancers bring French street culture to life, channeling the rebellious spirit of their inner child.
Compagnie KH | Karim Khouader: Sales Mômes
A choreographic show exploring the urban universe of choreographer Karim Khouader. Performed by seven hip-hop dancers with vibrant personalities full of attitude and style, the show will consist of scenes presented as live showcases or music video clips. It is an ode to French street culture. The desire and challenge of creating this show is to summon the inner child that boils within each of us. That rebellious kid, that Sales Mômes.
Black Pearl de Almeida: FEM[IN]ME
This performance permits the audience to witness Black Pearl’s personal journey of resilience and self-acceptance. Impulsed by the interplay of light and sound, Black Pearl navigates through different spaces. Dancing, initially fueled by joy, transitioning to the pressure to conform and produce to please others. Awakening to moments of realization and empowerment driven by the raw energy of various dance styles: hip hop, classical, contemporary, and vogue. “Anybody walking?”
CREATE4: Hereditary
The exploration of the (lack of) things that we have learned from our fathers. As we grow and become men, the absence of our fathers affects us more than ever. We carry memories for guidance and hope that our shadows are them and will protect us. Two young black men from different sides of the world explore the long- ingrained, toxic masculinity that is passed on generation to generation, sometimes actively by a father who is present, and the other times through the absence of a father figure. In a physical conversation blended with hip hop dance, they share and learn from their differences and similarities.
Camilla Siddu: So Close, Away - Conversations with the past
“So Close, Away – Conversations with the Past” takes a closer look at love’s gestures through the lens of the story of three childhood friends and their connection. The narrative explores how separation impacts relationships and how these small gestures profoundly influence our lives, building unique memories in our journeys.
Attitudes
These performances are part of Attitudes, a three-year capacity building and co-creation project in the field of hip hop dance, that will result in six co-productions for stage and alternative spaces, gathering audiences at twenty-five different touring locations in six countries. Attitudes is run by CCNRB (FR), Dansekapellet (DK), HOP Festival (ES), Kampnagel (DE), Norrlandsoperan (SE) and Summer Dance Forever (NL). Attitudes is co-funded by the European Union 🇪🇺.
