Ashley Henry is een bekroonde jazzpianist, zanger, componist en producer. Zijn album 'Beautiful Vinyl Hunter' (2020) werd internationaal geprezen en genomineerd voor BBC 6 Music's Album van het Jaar. Hij heeft getourd als bandlid met Christine and the Queens en heeft de support verzorgd op Loyle Carner zijn tournee. Henry’s geluid is beïnvloed door zijn opvoeding in Londen en zijn Caribische roots, waarbij hij genres vermengt en put uit klassieke training en de zwarte radicale traditie. Zo liet hij zich inspireren door figuren zoals James Baldwin, Angela Davis, Ahmad Jamal en Aretha Franklin. In 2023 richtte Henry zijn eigen label Royal Raw Music op, met als doel nieuwe muzikale grenzen te verkennen. Twee jaar geleden wist hij het publiek te betoveren op Super-Sonic Jazz Fesival in Paradiso. Nu keert hij terug naar Amsterdam, ditmaal in Tolhuistuin om zijn nieuwe album 'Who We Are' ten gehore te brengen.

How to get to Tolhuistuin

Tolhuistuin (formerly Paradiso Noord) is located at IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam North. A free ferry is departing from Amsterdam Central Station to Buiksloterweg. Turn left and you’ll walk into Tolhuistuin. For club nights, the rear entrance is used (Buiksloterweg 5C), which can be reached via the Overhoeksplein.

Restaurant
Tolhuistuin also has a restaurant in which you can have a bite before the show. We advise to make a reservation in advance via this website.
