De 76-jarige Allen Toussaint is een Amerikaanse rhythm & blues-pianist, zanger, componist, producer en arrangeur. Hij begeleidde grootse artiesten, zoals Fats Domino, en werkte aan de zijde van Dr John, The Meters en The Band. Met de nummers ‘Southern Nights, ‘Working in the Coalmine’ en ‘Whipped Cream’ werd hij wereldwijd bekend. Vanaf 1958 nam Toussaint zestien studioalbums op, en groeide uit tot één van de grootste muzikanten uit New Orleans. Afgelopen jaar werd hij bovendien twee keer genomineerd voor een Grammy, voor zijn album ‘Songbook’.
