Meteorite strikes next to Paradiso

On Tuesday, June 30, a gigantic meteorite struck the vacant plot of land next to Paradiso, narrowly missing the building. Where the small house once stood, a huge crater now smolders. The meteorite impact turns out to be the new artwork by Leonard van Munster, marking the start of a new chapter in the future of Paradiso. In doing so, Paradiso makes the conscious choice to continue creating space for art and culture, and to be a 'third place' for visitors and makers. Preferably for 100 years or more.
Artwork as a symbol of a new beginning
Van Munster’s artwork marks and symbolizes a significant turning point for Paradiso. For Paradiso, too, is grappling with (invisible) threats in the form of lawsuits regarding noise pollution and the aging of the building. To secure the venue’s future, reconstruction and renovation are necessary. With the purchase of the adjacent plot of land in 2022, the physical space was created to make this possible. And a development vision for future-proofing the building is now in place.
Moreover, a renovated Paradiso creates new opportunities for (visual) arts, music, nightlife, social projects, and a place where the city comes together. The elaboration and financing of these renovation plans will take a number of years. Until a building stands on the plot of land, there will be more to see and experience alongside Paradiso. What that will be? That remains to be seen.
