Leon Bridges to play two concerts at Paradiso on 29 May

The young musician Leon Bridges (1989) has only released two albums to date, but can already be called an established name in the R&B and soul genre. With a repertoire that could easily been mistaken from coming directly from the 1960s, the Texan singer-songwriter is often compared to artists from the glory days of Motown and Stax, such as Otis Redding, Percy Sledge and Sam Cooke.

Bridges' debut ‘Coming Home’ was released in 2015, recorded while the artist still had a side job as a dishwashing aid in a local restaurant. Less than a year later he played music from that album for President Obama in the White House and had sold more than half a million of it. In 2018, successor ‘Good Thing’ came out, which received just as good reviews as its predecessor and is once again filled with of hearth warming and passionate soul songs.

His debut album received Grammy nominations in 2016 and 2017. At the most recent presentation of the sought-after music prize, Leon Bridges received another nomination for best R&B album with 'Good Thing' and won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance with his song 'Bet Ain't Worth the Hand' from that album.

Leon Bridges will perform not once, but twice on Wednesday 29 May. The first concert in Paradiso starts at 20:00 hrs, followed by a second show at midnight. Tickets for both concerts are available from Friday 29 March at 10:00 hrs Dutch Time on our website.
