Open Call
Paradiso Prints is an initiative by Stichting Paradiso to support and nurture new talent in the world of poster design. Whether you are a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, 3D artist, or other creative professional, everyone is welcome to apply.
How to apply
If you want to participate, apply by January 31, 2025, via the Open Call. After this date, a careful selection will be made for the 2025 portfolio. If selected, you could have the opportunity to design an exclusive concert poster for Paradiso. While we cannot guarantee that every selected designer will create a poster, we aim to provide this unique opportunity to as many designers as possible.
Missed the deadline? If the first year of the platform is successful, you can apply again starting in 2026, and we will make a new selection each year, offering space for new talent.
What we're looking for
Everyone is welcome to apply, regardless of background or experience. No specific education is required, but we expect you to have basic knowledge of preparing print-ready materials for posters. This means you should be familiar with the technical aspects of the printing process, such as setting the correct file formats and resolutions.
Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience, we encourage everyone to participate. We believe talent comes in many forms, and we are looking for a diverse group of designers. This offers both beginners and experienced designers the opportunity to develop and present their work to a wider audience.
We select designers based on:
- Artistic identity
- Sense of composition and color
- Use of (custom) typography
- Affinity with music
What happens after my application?
After the closing date of the Open Call (January 31, 2025), a committee within Paradiso will carefully select a number of designers. Throughout 2025, the committee will look for the best matches between the selected designers and the artists performing at Paradiso. These pairings are based not only on intuition but also on potential artistic connections between the graphic designer and the musician. During the application process, designers can also indicate their personal preferences regarding music genres.
Next, we will ask the performing artist for permission to create the poster. This is not guaranteed, as not every artist agrees to participate. If the artist approves, the graphic designer can start creating a unique poster.
Please note: being selected as a designer and included in the Paradiso Prints portfolio does not automatically mean you will receive an assignment in 2025. Whether you are paired with an artist depends on the match we see and the artist’s interest in participating in the project.
Production process
Once the poster is finished and approved by the artist, it will go into production. This production process is handled by a team within Paradiso, so as a designer, you don’t need to take any action.
Sustainability is an important focus for Paradiso. That’s why we collaborate on this project with De Kijm & Zonen, a printing company based in The Hague that specializes in traditional and sustainable printing methods. Wherever possible, we use eco-friendly inks and printing techniques. The Paradiso Webshop team handles the sales.
Compensation
Paradiso Prints is a non-profit initiative designed to provide a platform for emerging local designers.
We believe in transparency and aim to offer fair compensation for your work. For designing a concert poster, you will receive a fixed fee of €400. Of this amount, €50 is guaranteed as an advance for creating a sketch. The remaining amount will be paid once the poster is approved, produced, and made available for sale.
The fee is not tied to the actual sales performance of the poster. Paradiso takes the financial risk so that you can focus entirely on your design.
Any profit is fairly distributed: a portion goes to the artist, while Paradiso Prints’ share is used to further develop the platform and offset losses on less successful posters.
