Accessibility Bitterzoet

Below you’ll find information about the accessibility of Bitterzoet, as well as additional details to help make your visit as pleasant as possible.

General

Entrance
Wheelchair users can report to the entrance at Spuistraat 2 upon arrival. After your ticket is scanned at the front door, staff will guide you inside. The outer door is approximately 1.5 meters wide. Inside, there is a small ramp going down toward the hall. The door to the hall is approximately 68 centimeters wide.

Elevator and downstairs area

Merchandise is accessible via the elevator. It is 78 centimeters wide, 2 meters deep, and 2.11 meters high, with a maximum capacity of 1000 kilos. The lockers are located on the downstairs level but are not accessible for wheelchair users.

Toilets

The toilets are not wheelchair accessible. If needed, a staff member can help you access the staff toilet; upon arrival, please ask one of the bar staff for assistance. These toilets are located on level -1 and can be reached using the elevator at the back. The door to the toilet area is approximately 78 centimeters wide.

Assistance and service dogs

The KNGF advises bringing personal assistance to festivals and concerts instead of a service dog. A concert may be harmful for the dog.

Hall & facilities

  • The bar has a height of approximately 116 cm. Both cash and card payments are accepted.
  • The card terminals are located on the bar itself.
  • There are bar stools and loose chairs that can be placed on request. On some evenings, chairs are placed on a small platform on the right side of the hall; from there, the view of the stage is good.
  • There are two toilets on level -1, accessible via the elevator and a door approximately 78 cm wide.  However, these toilets are not suitable for wheelchair users.
  • Lockers are located downstairs but are not accessible for wheelchair users.

Accessibility

There are no disabled parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of Bitterzoet. The nearest parking garage is Q-Park Nieuwendijk. A taxi can stop in front of the venue. The nearest tram stop is Nieuwezijds Kolk, but this stop is not wheelchair accessible.

Other facilities

  • Many events make use of strobe lighting and/or smoke effects. Please take this into account when attending an event.
  • There is no low-stimulus (sensory-friendly) room available. Visitors can step outside for a moment to take a break; inform the doorman to receive a stamp so you can re-enter.
  • Bitterzoet does not have its own wheelchairs.
  • Companions require their own ticket, and seats cannot be reserved.

Hearing protection

At high sound levels, it’s smart to use earplugs. This way you can hear the music clearly, still communicate with fellow visitors, and protect your hearing. Filtered earplugs are available at the entrance of Bitterzoet for €5. Check the link below for more information.
