Accessibility

Our building has several rooms, which means that sometimes different programs are taking place at the same time. Please find some information on the page below about the accessibility of each of our Halls and some extra information to make your visit to any Paradiso Hall as pleasant as possible.

General

Entrance
If you want to come to Paradiso bringing a wheelchair, we advise you to arrive on time at the side entrance of Paradiso. The opening times of the  can be found via the relevant program page on our website. The side entrance is located (viewed from the street) on the left side of the building and is accessible by a ramp. The slope of this has a slope angle of 7.5 degrees and a slope number of 14.1 percent. Front-of-house staff will always be on hand to assist entry and exit.

Tickets
When you enter through the side entrance, your ticket(s) and membership(s) will be scanned. A companion, carer or personal assistant does not require a ticket nor a membership.

Elevator
If needed, you can pick up a key to the passenger lift at the reception, whiich is the first thing you see when entering through the side entrance. The elevator takes you down to the wheelchair-accessible toilet in the basement or various other areas (Upstairs Hall and balconies of Main Hall). The dimensions of the passenger lift are: width: 80cm, depth: 140cm, height: 199cm. max. 375kg.

Lockers
Paradiso has lockers that can be reserved on site, using a QR code and smartphone. After payment, you will automatically receive a locker number from the system. The locker can be located on the ground floor as well as on the first floor and is not always at personal eye level. Please seek out our staff at the reception for assistance.

Guidance and assistance dogs
The KNGF advises to bring personal guidance to festivals and concerts instead of an assistance dog. A concert can possibly be harmful to the dog. We recommend bringing hearing protection for your dog, please.

Seating/elevator use
The Main Hall has seats in the balcony, which is only open during sold-out shows. The Upper Hall has no permanent seating. Need a seat there? Then you can ask for help at reception when you enter. We will then look at the possibilities together.

Other
Please note: Paradiso does not have its own wheelchairs. All our bars are cashless, so pay by card only.

Visiting our Halls

Main Hall
There is limited space for wheelchairs on the balcony of the Main Hall (accessible by the passenger lift). Please be mindful of crowds. Please note: entrance to the balcony is through four heavy, relatively narrow, soundproof doors. The receptionist or anyone from front-of-house staff can, if desired, walk along to open it. The balcony doors are each 76 cm wide. The balcony is equipped with a balcony bar. The height of the bar: 120 centimeters.

Upstairs Hall
The entrance to the Upstairs Hall is located on the first floor, immediately to the left when you exit of the elevator. The door of the Upper Room is 73 cm wide. The Bovenzaal has its own bar (at the rear of the hall). The height of this is 120 centimeters.

Basement
The basement café is open for drinks before and after the concerts. During club nights, sometimes the Basement is in use as an extra room with an additional event. The height of the bar located here is 120 centimeters.

Tolhuistuin (located in Amsterdam North)
Wheelchair spaces are available in the various rooms. More information about accessibility can be found in the FAQ of Tolhustuin via their website.

Parking spaces and taxi ranks

Parking spaces
Paradiso does not have its own parking spaces. The nearest parking garage with disabled spaces is Q-Park Byzantium, located on Tesselschadestraat 1G, 1054 ET Amsterdam.

  • Height is 1.95 m
  • Disabled places: 2
  • Costs: 2.50 euros per 15 minutes

Please visit their website for more information: Parkeren bij Parkeergarage Q-Park Byzantium | Amsterdam

Taxi's
Taxis are allowed to come via the Zieseniskade to the Kleine Gartmanplantsoen, next to Paradiso. Navigate to Zieseniskade 24, there is a bollard in place from 9pm to 7am. This blocks the entry to Zieseniskade. Push the P button on the pole on the left hand side. This will put you in contact with the Paradiso receptionist, who can lower the barrier pole. Taxis are not allowed to drive up to the door. This requires an exemption.

Nearby taxi ranks

There's a taxi rank nearby, in front of the Hardrock Hotel (former Hotel Americain).

Travelling by bike?

To Paradiso's right, at Leidseplein Square, you can find the free underground bicycle parking, open and monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Low-stimulus areas

A lot of our shows, club nights and other events use strobe lighting and smoke effects, Please take this into account when visiting an event.

During concerts
During concerts, the café in the Basement offers the least stimuli. In exceptional cases it is closed during concerts. It is always possible to go outside for a while, if you're feeling overwhelmed or not well in any way. Don't forget to ask for a stamp when leaving, so you can go back inside if you would like to return.

During club nights

During club nights, a 'chill area' is sometimes, but not always, recreated in the Upstairs Hall. It is always possible to go outside for a while, if you're feeling overwhelmed or not well in any way. Don't forget to ask for a stamp when leaving, so you can go back inside if you would like to return. Are you really not well or do you need anything else from us? Always ask our colleagues for assistance or advice.

Tolhuistuin

Wheelchair spaces are available in the various halls. More information about accessibility can be found in the Tolhuistuin FAQ on their website.

Bitterzoet

Visitors using a wheelchair can report to the entrance of Bitterzoet from the moment doors open until the start of the concert. A staff member will then assist in finding a comfortable spot. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair-accessible toilet. You can find all information about Bitterzoet’s accessibility via the link below.

Gehoorbescherming

At high sound levels it is wise to use earplugs. This way you can hear the music well, you can still communicate with your fellow visitors and you protect your hearing. You can get earplugs at Paradiso. See the link below for more information.
